His is William Pattison, I’m the guy that has put out for 13 years Artists in Horror Recognition Month every March. But, unfortunately, this year I’ve suffered a major heart attack and had open heart surgery. I’m currently in a care facility and have no access to my Artists in Horror files. Also, I’m just in no condition to do all the work required to put on this event. But, artists in horror month is like a flu vaccination. You miss a year and all can be lost.
It was because of a lazy fair attitude that has caused sci Fi and Fantasy to get put in the pathetic condition they are in. Classic sci Fi and Fantasy got taken over by radical socio political forces and both genres have been rewritten to their image and great sci Fi and Fantacy franchises are being destroyed, look at Star Trek, Doctor Who, Lord of the Rings. Horror nearly succumbed to a fate like that with The Horror Socials and The Horror Drunks and other groups who wanted to Push their ageNdas. But horror was strong and u like Sci Fi and Fantasy we came out stronger and have gone from a trash genre to one who is starting to garner respect.
The reason is through appreciation and positive reinforcement. That is tht Artists in Horror factor. Think of horror as a lake. You throw a grain of grain of rice into the lake. That grain of rice causes subtle ripples the extend through the lake. That is Artists in Horror Month. The reason WiHM ended up failing was pure ego and people pushing for free publicity. Women in Horror lost their mission. Artists on Horror never has, because it is so simple…give appreciation to those on horror who might not get it and spread a positive message that changes the vibe of the horror community as a whole.
Now I need your help. I need those who have benefitted from Artists on Horror Month to support the good work and send out appreciation notes and spread the appreciation yourselves because I can’t do the majority of the work this year. I’m weak and in too fragile of a condition.
I don’t want to see horror succume like sci Fi and Fantasy. I want to come back to me duties next year and be proud of this genre and the people in it. Artists in Horror Month is based in love and I’m asking you for the future of our community please help…
