Any fans of the anthology series Tales From the Void? I just discovered this series on Tubi. I really like the fact that the host talks to the Creepy Pasta authors whose stories are being adapted. But also I'm a bit saddened because I know if I had taken the Creepy Pasta route for my stories after The Camp Crystal Lake novels I would be purposely ignored for consideration for this anthology. My friend Boo Rhodes and some of my author friends would be considered.
The reason for this is because after I wrote my series the horror media, conventions, and websites treated me as an unwelcome outsider for no good reason. I never acted egotistical and only wanted to be treated like my fellow authors yet all these horror organizations tried to pull the narrative that I was trying to act like I was Stephen King or one of the 1 percent. All I wanted was to have opportunities to promote my work and feel like part of this community. There answer to this was "to put me in my place and to shut up and disappear." Thus since 1998 when I came out as the author of The Camp Crystal Lake novels after being screwed over by Berkeley Books I was called a hack by my peers and had to struggle and pretty much go to war with the horror industry to be able to do what I needed to do to get my work out and promote it. I lost a lot of respect for a lot of people and organizations in horror. I was harassed and stalked to the point of losing friendships, associations, and causing the death of my one sister because a bunch of unprofessional, immature, assholes thought it was funny to harass an innocent woman with a bad heart to get at her brother.
Also, it's taken 35 years for this genre to acknowledge my contributions to this genre. That's right. I was one of the authors who actually saved horror literature when it was dying because the only horror authors who were getting any publicity were five author in mainline horror. But YA horror was actually the forum that though it wasn't very respected kept this genre going and authors like myself and RL Stine elevated it beyond mere kiddie books. But where as Stine got more publicity due to Fear Street and Goosebumps I got shit rubbed in my face because I added a lot of character development and make the setting a character since Berkeley didn't want me to have Jason in the books because New Line told them not to. It was not my choice but I suffered for it because I wasn't in the horror industry's private club because I did what New Line ordered.
Oh, and one other thing... I didn't give myself the monker "King of Splatter Punk" another guy who liked to cause bullshit in the horror community gave it to me. I refused to use it for years even though he kept having his friends call me that. I knew it was a setup to make me look egotistical. Eventually, I got tired of the bullshit and took it on to mock the assholes in this community who kept making me out as an egotistical troublemaker who "harassed good people who love this genre..." Fuck you. These good people are just money loving assholes who will backstab their friends to get promoted and make money. Fuck, I make coffee money with all my riches I gather writing horror. I get shit on by conventions. Wikipedia took down my bio and has made it impossible to put William Pattison Aka Eric Morse as the author of my books. Also, I will never be able to get a horror award because the assholes in horror get my name pulled every time I'm nominated. And, don't you dare fucking lie and say I'm full of shit. It's common knowledge. I got pulled from The Horror Writers Guild because of petty political bullshit like this.
People wonder why I have this Jekyll and Hyde relationship with this genre I love with all my heart...that is it. I hate that instead of greeting artists with open arms we get a punch in the face and kicked as a welcome.
It is what killed WiHM because their ambassadors would rather be Femenazis and be worshipped rather than help their fellow women in horror. Or Fangoria, who decided to push social justice instead of doing their jobs and giving horror fans the news about horror films. What is worse is Fangoria died and instead of rebuilding it the right way they brought back the same assholes that killed it in the first place. It is pathetic.
Yet, I continue to fight the fight and put out my work, because I won't let the assholes win, not until I'm in my grave..and not even then. End of rant.

I am thoroughly disgusted with the treatment that Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein is getting from Netflix. The fact is that for the past 13 days this film has been out in theatres and Netflix has done nothing to promote it. They have released a few trailers on YouTube but no ads on TV. Also, Netflix only released the film to independent art house theatres and the first five days of release was only in New York and Boston, then at a mere three hundred theatres after. As a result Frankenstein only made 120,000 domestically. The reason is that amount of release was the minimum for Academy Award inclusion. Unfortunately, that minimum denies best picture and all actor awards nominations. So, after all his 10 years of preparation and craftsmanship Guillermo del Toro and his cast are being screwed. As well, the audience has been denied the chance to see this masterpiece the way Del Toro created it to be seen. This is a disgrace. Netflix is a bunch of assholes.

Check out this film that tried to be a throwback to the Italian paranormal classics of the 80s...
